This is another encouraging drop. For more than three weeks now, the number of classes closed due to the Covid-19 epidemic has been steadily decreasing. Less than 1,300 classes (1,254) were closed Thursday, October 7, against 1,692 a week ago, or 0.32%, already down compared to the previous week (2366) and the week before (3299).

In its weekly update, the Ministry of National Education also indicates that four school structures (four primary schools, but no college or high school) are closed because of the epidemic, or 0.007% of establishments.

186,281 saliva tests performed

In addition, 8664 of the 10,700 middle and high schools proposed “a vaccination course”

to students aged 12 and over since the beginning of September. Finally, for the week of September 27 to October 4, 368,923 saliva tests were offered for students and staff, and 186,281 were carried out.

For the start of the school year, the ministry has retained the “level 2” health protocol (out of 4) which authorizes all students to be received in person and requires them to wear a mask in indoors, except in kindergarten. The obligation to wear a mask in elementary school (CP to CM2) has however been lifted for students since Monday in 47 departments “where the incidence rate stabilizes below the threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants”,

which are passed to level 1 of the protocol.

In total, the mask will no longer be compulsory in 68 departments from Monday for primary school students, according to a list published Thursday in the Official Journal. Teachers must continue to wear it. A case of Covid in a primary school class leads to a closure. In the event of contamination in middle or high school, only unvaccinated contact cases students must isolate themselves for one week.
