This last figure represents a 42% advance in immunization of the target population, that is, people over 12 years of age, which in Peru add up to 28 million 24 thousand 250 people.

Yesterday the Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, pointed out that it is possible that at the end of October the third dose of the vaccine against covid-19 to first-line health personnel, that is, those who directly care for people with the virus.

“This will depend on how Let’s prepare the protocol for the vaccination schedule, which we finished this week. And this is necessary, because we cannot go out to vaccinate in an open way “, he stressed.

At another time, Cevallos said that there is always the risk of arrival of a third wave, and that for now Peru is in an epidemiological pause. “This is good and it has to do with the vaccination campaigns that have been generated, with the coverage of the elderly. So as this (the third wave) is postponed, it gives us more time to prepare for this eventuality. ”

Today, during the ceremony for the Peruvian Medicine Day, Cevallos said that health sector workers are responsible for the success of the vaccination against covid-19.

“Las prolonged hours vaccinating in the most remote places, going house to house, in the squares, and the public recognizes them as martyrs and heroes of the fight for health “, he stressed.

” The advances that we have achieved so far by vaccinating millions of people do not have a single protagonist, the protagonists are all health workers ”, he noted.
