Cristiano Ronaldo receives standing ovation by fans after Madrid arrival

The Manchester United star received a warm welcome from fans, who paid tribute to him for his legendary spell in the Spanish capital.

Cristiano Ronaldo travelled with Manchester United for their Champions League game against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Another Real Madrid legend, Raphael Varane, also accompanied the Portuguese superstar as part of the Red Devils team.

The former Real Madrid stars received a warm welcome from football fans in Madrid after arriving in the city. The crowd gave Ronaldo and Varane a standing ovation before the Frenchman signed a Real Madrid shirt.

During the course of his nine seasons at Santiago Bernabeu, Ronaldo became the Blancos’ all-time top scorer. His legendary spell at the club led to 105 Champions League and 312 La Liga goals for the club.

In addition to breaking numerous individual and club records, the Portuguese star won several trophies at Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo helped the Blancos in claiming four Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey cups, and three Club World Cups.

How are United’s chances against Atletico?

Ronaldo boasts a tremendous personal record against the Rojiblancos, which could benefit the Red Devils. However, with the Red Devils’ inconsistent performances in recent weeks, it’s hard to imagine they would have an easy game coming up at Wanda Metropolitano.
