Cuba reports 2,788 new cases of COVID-19, no deaths and 1,913 medical discharges

At the close of this Tuesday, 24,646 patients were admitted, 12,452 suspects, 183 under surveillance and 12,011 confirmed active.

For COVID- 19 a total of 40 736 samples were taken for surveillance during the day, with 2 788 being positive. The country accumulates 12 042 779 samples carried out and 985 402 positive.

Of the total number of cases (2,788): 2,492 were contacts of confirmed cases; 92 with source of infection abroad; 204 without a specified source of infection. Of the 2,788 cases diagnosed, 1,559 were female and 1,229 male.

17.8% (496) of the 2,788 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 137,242, representing 14% of those confirmed to date.

Of the 2 788 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (631), from 20 to 39 years old (857), from 40 to 59 years old ( 868), 60 and over (432).

    Of the 985 402 patients diagnosed with the disease, 12,011 remained hospitalized, of them 11,973 with stable clinical evolution. 8,330 deaths accumulate (none in the day), fatality of 0.85% vs 1.77% in the world and 2.14% in the Americas; Two evacuees, 55 returned to their countries, there were 1,913 discharges on the day (875 fewer than those diagnosed), accumulated 965,004 recovered patients (97.9%).

    38 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, 10 of them critical and 28 severe.

    Until January 11, 191 countries and 32 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 311 771 577 (+ 2 430 191) with 45 161 703 active cases and 5 515 927 deaths (+ 6 296) for a fatality of 1.77% (-0.01).

    In the Region of the Americas, 115,061,320 confirmed cases (+ 1 385 342) are reported, 36.91% of the total cases reported in the world, with 22 291 689 active cases and 2 456 708 deaths (+ 1 976) for a lethality of 2.14% (- 0.02).
