A whirlwind trip from his concentration for the Africa Cup in Cameroon to Milan has confirmed what seemed like an open secret: André Onana will be Inter’s new goalkeeper, once he has reached an agreement with the Nerazzurri ensemble. The Cameroonian international will undergo a medical examination and sign his contract before returning to concentrate with his country.
In this way, he will leave Ajax after several successful campaigns and will become part of the current Italian champion. Inter itself has already communicated to Ajax that it has reached an agreement with the footballer.
Onana was also on Barça’s agenda as an option to fight with Ter Stegen for being the starting goalkeeper culé. However, the option of Inter seduced him more because he is more likely to unseat Handanovic, a great goalkeeper but much more veteran than Ter Stegen.
Onana’s time at Ajax has been brilliant. He gave meaning to the game from behind that the Amsterdam team always wants and showed great mastery with his feet. Not even the sanction for doping that has taken him a time out diminished the interest of the big clubs for him. In the end it will be Inter that will take him away.
