– when with Dario Moreno did you meet?
The most famous of the radio-music programs in the 1960s was a program consisting of French songs called Music from Eiffel, broadcast on Ankara Radio. I continued this program for eight years without interruption. At every opportunity, I talked about Dario and published his songs.
He returned to Ankara in 1962 as a very famous artist and I visited him at the Bulvar Palas Hotel and interviewed him for a concert he will hold at the Red Crescent Grand Cinema for a charity. Very interesting things happened in this first meeting. I explained this in detail in the book.
– How did he tell you about his childhood experiences?
He never told me about his childhood, namely the orphanage incident. Years later, when he returned to Izmir as a world-class artist and gave a concert, I learned from the incident that a lady who came to visit tried to tell him very politely without upsetting him.
When I said “Dear Dario, whether you want to give financial aid or give a concert for the orphanage, you already know the best”, I realized that those difficult days of his childhood were spent in the orphanage.
And when I had a meeting with the lady, she explained everything in detail. I have included these explanations in my novel.
