With only a few hours left to go of 2021 and we have just completed judging one of our favorite features from this whole past year.
The DeeperBlue Video Of The Year was a tough task, but it’s finally done!
We’ve taken a look back over all videos that were shared with us in order to decide not only what was most popular – but also which video stood out among them all!
As usual, there were some utterly stunning videos and strong competition featured during the year, however, one of the firm favorites with both readers and staff was a short freediving film by André Musgrove.
André is an Underwater Filmmaker, Photographer & Freediver born and based in the Bahamas.
His short film Child Of The Cenote is an epic video – that was shot entirely while freediving and that takes you as a viewer in a film that feels like you are watching a classic science fiction film like 2001 – a freediver embarks on an underwater journey through the underwater caves of the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula, called cenotes. Following the light that shines within the deepest and darkest part of the cenote, she finds what she least expects.
Congratulations to André on this compelling video and a well-deserved winner of our Video Of The Year.
You can watch the film above or on YouTube directly.
