Fico has emphasized that the profitability of banks will increase by 100%, with bank levies no longer being paid this year. The deputies of Smer-SD are therefore submitting a bill in the legislative process in connection with the approval of the state budget for next year, which should reintroduce a bank levy. “Money should be taken where it is, not where it is not,” he said.
In this way, it wants to find resources to compensate for the increase in electricity, gas and electricity prices. heat. “The government can now have EUR 300 million at its disposal in 2022, which it can use immediately to compensate people who will be burdened by a huge increase in energy from January onwards,” says Fico.

He noted that the government is “kicking” for the banks instead of helping people. He also pointed out that fees in banks increased by 10% compared to last year.
