JOHANNESBURG – Women with an aptitude for childcare are getting assistance to set up their own kindergartens.
This in a bid to close the gap in access to early learning, which prevents millions of children from receiving quality basic education.

It’s estimated that South Africa has about 1.3 million children between the ages of 3 and 5 who aren’t getting early learning.
SmartStart Social Franchise trains women at no cost to them, to deliver education programmes from their homes, community halls or other community buildings.
