Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The number of confirmed cases of Omicron in Indonesia has increased again. Based on data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), there were 57 additional cases recorded, bringing the total Omicron confirmations to 318 people as of Friday (7/1/2022).
For residents who exposed to Omicron, Spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination, Ministry of Health, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi recommends several treatments during isolation. For asymptomatic patients and mild symptoms, it is recommended to take the drugs molnupiravir and paxlovid.

The Ministry of Health also recommends an assessment of the need for oxygen concentrators or iso tanks in areas with increased maintenance cases, such as Jakarta, West Java, and North Sulawesi.
Please note, there are 57 additional Omicron cases, consisting of 7 local transmissions and 50 foreign travelers. Overall, there were 23 cases of Omicron local transmission, while cases from overseas travelers totaled 295 people.
Cumulatively, the most cases came from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Most of the confirmed cases of Omicron were also recorded as infected with residents who had complete Covid-19 vaccinations, from asymptomatic to mild symptoms.
As many as 99% of isolated Omicron cases had mild symptoms or asymptomatic. Meanwhile, 97% of cases are dominated by foreign travelers and come from DKI Jakarta Province.
As many as 4.3% of cases have comorbidities such as Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension, and 1% of cases require oxygen therapy. However, from the results of monitoring, most of the patients had a mild condition and were asymptomatic. The most common symptoms are cough and runny nose.
Omicron has a much faster transmission rate than the Delta variant. Since being first discovered on November 24, 2021 in South Africa, Omicron has been detected in more than 110 countries and is expected to continue to expand. In Indonesia, Omicron was first recorded as confirmed on December 16, 2021.
