A 21-year-old student was found Friday morning in the loading bin of an asphalt paving machine in Leuven. The young man fell asleep there after a night out. “If the workers had not looked by chance in the loading bin, it would probably have been sucked up by the machine and would not have survived,” said the Leuven police. The 21-year-old had gone out on the night of Thursday to Friday and slipped into the loading bin of an asphalt paver to sleep. He had taken off his shoes and put them aside. Workers who started the machine early in the morning to let it warm up peeked into the cargo bin and saw someone sleeping there.
As they were unable to wake the individual, the police were called. After much effort, he was finally able to be awakened. It turned out that he was still completely drunk and didn’t know where he was or how he got into the asphalt paver. He was taken to the police station to quench his wine in safer conditions.
