Star NBA player Dwight Howard is facing allegations of sexual assault in a new case. As one of the most prominent figures in basketball, Howard’s career achievements have been overshadowed by this recent controversy.

Dwight Howard, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, rose to prominence during his time with the Orlando Magic

Throughout his career, Howard became an eight-time All-Star and a three-time “Defensive Player of the Year.” He also succeeded by winning a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

Sexual Assault Allegations

However, Howard’s reputation is being challenged as he now faces accusations of sexual assault by Stephen Harper. Harper initially filed a civil lawsuit in Georgia in July, alleging assault, battery, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The lawsuit claims that Howard engaged in a sexual act with Harper without his consent.  Howard and his attorney responded to the case in early October 2023, and he described the sexual act with Harper as consensual.

According to Harper, he and Howard connected through Instagram and exchanged explicit text messages. They arranged to meet at Howard’s Gwinnett County, Georgia, on July 19, 2021.

‘Kitty’

Harper claims that on the way to Howard’s home, the NBA star asked him to bring another man or woman to their encounter, which Harper declined.

Upon arriving at Howard’s home, Harper alleges that a man dressed as a woman, referred to as “Kitty,” joined them. Harper states that both Howard and Kitty forcefully made him participate in sexual activity, and Howard performed non-consensual oral sex.

According to the lawsuit, Harper felt trapped and feared bodily harm if he resisted Howard’s advances, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit filed by Harper has sparked a significant reaction from the public.

Users on Twitter (X) reacted to the lawsuit with one user commenting “Ahhhh this is why he not in the NBA anymore and one user commented, “ He freaked out, lock him up.”

Howard responded to the allegations on Instagram Live by telling people to “mind their own business.” A user on X  to Howard’s denial “This the most aggressive way I ever seen somebody come out.”

Howard continues to deny that the sexual encounter was non-consensual and is seeking the dismissal of the case.
