Edo 2024: Group Backs Rep Idahosa To Deliver APC In Edo Guber

The member representing Ovia federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Dennis Idahosa, has been endorsed and described as the surest bet to fly to deliver victory for the All Progressives Congress APC if he eventually emerges the party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State. The endorsement is coming following a report by the Prof. Julius Ihonvbere-led committee, that pruned down the numbers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants from 29 to 6. Convener, United For Greater Edo, (UFGE), Abel Aigbondion, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, said Idahosa has demonstrated capacity, political sagacity, and experience to bring in the votes for the APC. “We are very much impressed with what he has been able to achieve in Ovia within a limited period and urged him to continue in that direction.” According to the group, Idahosa is the surest bet to fly to deliver victory for the party if he eventually emerges the party’s candidate. Aigbondion said Idahosa’s emergence among six aspirants from the pack of other notable contestants was also a clear pointer to his popularity and capability to bring in the votes for the APC. Report have it that the committee had short listed, Hon Dennis Idahosa, Senator Monday Okpebholo, (Edo Central), retired permanent secretary in the Federal Civil Service, and Dr Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, (Edo North) Others are Chairman of the APC, retired Col David Imuse, (Edo Central), House of Representatives member, Hon. Dennis Idahosa and former minister of Budget and Planning, Prince Clem Agba, (Edo North). The group while commending the Julius Ihonvbere’s led screening committee for what it described as a thorough exercise noted the APC must ensure that the party is united before, during and after the primaries. It also appealed to the leadership and members of the party to rally round the aspiration of Idahosa at the forthcoming primaries. “Idahosa is not only young and hardworking, he has shown that what truly matters to him is the happiness of his people and that is exactly the kind of governor we should desire come 2024.”
