'Electricity tariffs' explanation from EMRA

Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced that electricity tariffs for 2022 were determined and published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

In the written statement made by EMRA, it was stated that the gradual tariff application was started within the scope of the law adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), “The goal of the gradual tariff is to protect our low-income citizens and to increase savings and efficiency in energy use. As it is known, the cause of the pandemic conditions. As a result of the increase in the prices of raw materials and raw materials, there have been huge increases in energy costs.In the world spot markets, coal prices used in electricity generation have increased by 5 times and natural gas prices have increased by 10 times.The Turkish energy sector has also been one of the extraordinary cost increases that emerged at the global level in this process. However, the institution With the cooperation between our companies, these increases have been reflected to our consumers at a minimum level. In addition, in order to protect our citizens from these increases, our state provided a total of 100 billion liras of support in 2021 by covering half of the electricity bills and four-fifths of the natural gas. In the statement, which has become mandatory to ensure predictability and efficiency, the final price for consumption amounts up to 150 kWhe per month for residential subscribers will be 1.37 TL/kWh, monthly consumption will be increased to 150 kWh, as of January 1, 2022, with the transition to efficiency-oriented gradual tariff. For the part above, it will be applied as 2.06 TL/ kWh”.
