Made it in the hill climb Austria’s cross-country ace, the ninth fastest time. The overall victory went to the Russian Neprjajewa.
Cross-country skier Teresa Stadlober improved by one place to seventh overall at the end of the Tour de Ski. In the hill climb to Alpe Cermis, the Salzburg woman ran the ninth fastest time on Tuesday. With Natalia Neprjajewa, overall victory went to a Russian for the first time. The last stage over the steep ski slope in Fiemme Valley was secured by the Norwegian Heidi Weng, who was third in the Tour classification behind the Swede Ebba Andersson.
For Stadlober, the first highlight of the season went better than expected. After a mixed season opener and a chill in the run-up, the 28-year-old started with subdued expectations. Apart from the two unloved sprints, she presented herself strong with two sixths, one seventh place and the good finish.
Top star renounced the tour
Your previous top result on the tour but still a fifth place from 2018. At that time she was third on the penultimate stage and achieved the second fastest time in the hill climb.
Top star Therese Johaug and a few others had renounced the tour this time in favor of a long Olympic training block. Others like the Swedish co-favorite Frida Karlsson got out early. Neprjajewa couldn’t take her comfortable lead on the final day as fourth and finally won clearly ahead of Andersson (+47 seconds) and Weng (1:08 minutes). Stadlober was around two and a half minutes behind in the final bill. Defending champion Jessica Diggins from the USA fell behind the Radstädter in eighth place.
