Erdogan was going to inaugurate 9 days later… The road was in ruins

The Kilimli Coastal Road, the construction of which was started by Kilimli Municipality in 2002 but could not be completed because it is not in the Highways Road Network, was tendered in 2011. The company that won the tender announced that it would deliver in 120 days. The company, which undertook the construction of the road, which was tendered part by part, could not deliver the road in the specified time and the works stopped.

The road, whose construction turned into a snake story, was once again tendered in 2020. The road, which cost approximately 500 million liras in total, was to be opened by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan 9 days later on January 22.

ROAD TURNED TO DAMAGED

According to the news in the Black Sea newspaper, it was stated that the Coastal Road Project, which will cut the 11-kilometer road between Zonguldak and Kilimli in half and will take 5 minutes, is also of great importance for the Filyos Port, which is still under construction.

The road, which will be opened on January 22nd, was almost swallowed by the giant waves caused by the severe storm that started yesterday evening. The waves, which ripped the asphalt from place to place, left the highway under stones and water, rendering it unusable.

“ROAD CANNOT BE BUILT FOR THE CONTRACTORS OF THE AKP TO GET RICH”

CHP Kilimli District President Erol Sarıal, who said that the coastal road project, which environmentalist associations opposed from the very beginning, could not withstand the waves in the Black Sea, said that the road was swallowed by the waves for the second time after it was completed.

Sarıal said that despite the warnings, no additional precautions were taken and said, “Make a solid road. We say make a road with a high safety factor. You are building a road to make the contractors rich. Eregli-Zonguldak; Zonguldak-Devrek-Mengen roads are shifted, demolished and rebuilt every year. Kilimli Beach Road would be nice, would be nice; however, it would be nice if it were the Konya Plain, not the Black Sea with its raging waves on its shore. Roads cannot be built so that AKP’s contractors get rich. Road construction is not just about the tender process. Tenders should be audited at every stage. During the completion phase, it should be inspected and paid accordingly.”
