BRUSSELS – The European Union will expand the control mechanism, and possibly extend the restrictions on the export of vaccines against covid 19 until the end of 2021, which is longer than the current deadline specified for the end of September, an unnamed official confirmed to Reuters

The European Commission announced earlier this week that it would propose such an extension, but at first not all governments supported it because vaccination campaigns in the EU are advancing rapidly. and there are no more supply disruptions as in the first half of the year.

However, uncertainty about the need to provide additional doses, as new variants of coronavirus appear, she assured all governments that they needed to maintain some control over exports, an official who did not want to be identified told the agency.
