Meta Platforms , parent company Facebook , is facing a lawsuit in Velika Britain worth over £ 2.3 billion, following allegations that it misused its market position to collect and exploit the personal data of 44 million people.
Lisa Lovdahl-Gormsen, a senior adviser to the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has filed a lawsuit on behalf of all Britons who used Facebook between 2015 and 2019. Facebook is said to have made billions of pounds by imposing unfair terms on users, requiring them to provide valuable personal information.
Lisa Lovdahl-Gormsen claimed that, although Facebook is really the only social network in the UK where you will be sure to connect with friends and family, it also has the dark side. The platform collected personal data through Facebook Pixel – a tool that allows advertisers to track the behavior of their customers.
Facebook said that people used its service because it provided them value and to have “meaningful control over the information they share on Meta platforms and with whom”, reports Reuters .
