Alia Bhatt might be a few months pregnant now, but that hasn’t stopped her from working. Post the release of Darlings, the actress swiftly moved on to promoting her next big-budget film – Brahmastra . While the actress is doing most of the promotions virtually at the moment, the mommy-to-be is also making sure that the hype surrounding the movie remains intact. However, her last live with Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir Kapoor did not go very well with fans.
The trio went live on YouTube to drop the teaser of their third song Dance Ka Bhoot. During a conversation with fans, one of their followers asked why they are not promoting the film so heavily. Replying to the question, Bhatt said, “Of course, we will promote the movie, but if the question you are asking is why we are not phailod (spread) everywhere.” And before she could say something else, Kapoor cut her to say something very distasteful.
Pointing towards his wife’s baby bump, Kapoor said, “Well I can say somebody has phailod.” The comment shocked Bhatt and Mukerji as well. Fans later reacted to the actor’s insensitivity when the video from the live went viral. Many discussed how Kapoor’s joke never landed well and how he should have been more sensitive toward somebody’s body image, especially his wife.
A Reddit user commented, “I am not surprised if he is the reason Alia will have body image issues in spite of being pregnant.” Another said that the actor should be careful of what he says when thousands of people are watching him. “I don’t want to nit-pick and criticize Ranbir and Alia every time but main kya karoon. Ranbir, why’d you need to say that phailod comment on air? Like she has body image issues, she’s heavily pregnant, leave her alone,” said another.

Brahmastra also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in key roles. Shah Rukh Khan is also rumored to be a part of the film, after a clip from the teaser went viral on the Internet. What’s more, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are also said to be a part of this franchise film!
Brahmastra is a trilogy with its first part slated for a release on September 9. Backed by Dharma Productions, the film will release in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film’s logo was revealed by 150 drones at Kumbh during Mahashivratri.
