Parties that intend to unite around a federation, which will form a bloc both during the elections and later, to govern, they are afraid that the Federal Supreme Court (STF) will veto the measure .
The decision of the STF to take the issue to a vote in plenary was seen by enthusiastic parties of the measure, such as PT, PSB, PCdoB, Network and PSOL as a sign that the measure can be barred.
Return of coalitions
Some magistrates, in turn, say they just want to discuss the measure in depth. The objective is to prevent federations from promoting, in practice, the return of coalitions, already vetoed by the Court.
The coalitions, according to them, allowed a splintering of parties and a lack of commitment by parliamentarians, after being elected, to follow any consistent political program.
They also fear that Congress will pass laws in the future exempting parties that are in federations from following a program common, distorting the meaning of the law that authorized this type of union.
According to the columnist
Mônica Bergamo, federations must pass the sieve of the STF, but with strict rules so that there are no deviations and shortcuts that empty their purpose.
