Fiat workers in Kragujevac have their paid leave extended

Production at the Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) factory in Serbia will continue on Wednesday, October 6, instead of Monday, as previously announced to workers who have been on paid leave since September 27.

President of the union “Independence” in FCA Zoran Stanic told Beti that the workers were informed not to come to work on Monday and Tuesday and that Wednesday will be the first working day after the so-called lei -of.

He said that, according to unofficial information from the union, the continuation of production was delayed due to the lack of Chinese parts for the “Fiat 500L”.

According to Stanic, there is unofficial talk in the factory that work will be done for a few more days in October, and that production will then be stopped until February 2022

“We doubt that this will be the case. . The census is being done in the factory, which was usually done first in August, this time it was not done then, and the second one was done at the end of the year “, said Stanić.

According to him, the factory spoke and that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will open another Janfeng factory in Kragujevac in mid-September “and that he should have brought good news for FCA workers.”

“We hoped that it would be news about the announcement of the production of a hybrid vehicle in our factory, but it did not happen “said Stanic.

He added that the workers are worried, and that they do not have more information about the plans for the Kragujevac factory

The Independent Trade Union, which is a representative trade union in the FCA, also stated that there is great uncertainty for workers since they do not have any official information from the employer regarding the plans all year round.

“There is no information from our state bodies, ie from the Government as a minority owner of the factory,” said the President of the Independent of the FCA union Sasa Djordjevic.

He announced that, if the “silence” continues, the union will most likely officially address the domestic authorities in mid-October and ask for information.

“We were hoping, when the news spread through the factory that Vucic would come to Kragujevac, because good news was expected for our company. But, as the news spread quickly, it disappeared even faster and no one talks about it anymore, “said Djordjevic.

When asked by Beta if the workers are leaving the FCA, because often they don’t work, and for those days they were paid 65 percent, Djordjevic said that “everyone who finds something better, naturally, leaves.”

In the sister company FCA, which produces bumpers, “Fiat Plastic “The suspension of work, which began due to the reduction of salaries, has been going on since the end of February.

“Our position is clear. We will not discuss the strike demands until Fiat returns the machines that it illegally removed from the factory during the strike and until the group of workers who worked on them returned to work from forced leave, “said the president of the Strike Committee, Zoran Miljković.

He mentioned that returning the machines to the factory is a “condition of all conditions” for conversations with the employer. He added that, if the employer does not agree to that, the representatives of the Strike Committee will leave the meeting. conciliation procedure with the mediation of the state conciliator.

Negotiations with the mediation of the conciliator were conducted in three rounds, the last of which was organized in separate talks of the conciliator with the employer and the strikers.

As they said in the Strike Committee, the reconciliation failed because Fiat was not ready to make concessions, unlike the strikers.

The employer remained in the position to offer a Collective Agreement in which it is terminated the right of workers to strike and provides for reduced recourse and paid leave, due to which the workers began to suspend work.
