First a fine, then deprivation of rights: Ukrainian drivers will be severely punished

Ukrainian drivers will be punished for driving on vehicles with worn tires. The first violation is punishable by a fine, and the second – deprivation of driver’s license.

This is stated in the draft law amending the “Code of Administrative Offenses”.

If the residual tread depth does not comply with the current traffic rules, then drivers will be fined 8.5 thousand hryvnias. However, in case of repetition of the situation, law enforcement agencies, for non-compliance with the “Traffic Code”, will take away the driver’s license for a period of 6 months to 1 year.

to prevent Ukrainian drivers from being fined:

  • tires of both cars and trucks, including trailers with a maximum weight of up to 3.5 tons, can wear tires
  • trucks with a permissible maximum mass exceeding 3.5 tons – will be allowed to drive with a tread relief of at least less than 1 millimeter;
  • buses must have at least 2 millimeters;
  • for motorcycles / mopeds – not less than 0.8 millimeters
