Frank Dressler Invites Readers to Be in the Shoes of an Ex-GI, Working as a Superintendent of Two New York City Apartment Buildings in the Early 1950s, in This Emotionally and Hilarious Memoir of the Big Apple, “Mr. K. and the Super”

Miami, FL – WEBWIRETuesday, February 8, 2022

This captivating narrative, sometimes down-right hilarious memoirs of a just recently married ex-GI, and his service as “super” (superintendent) of two New York City apartment buildings during the early fifties. These two high-rise dwellings are more like a catalyst of emotions, aspirations, and misfortunes headed by Mr. K, a landlord from Poland who is an activist trying to overthrow the communist rule in his country.

Struggling to seek control of his domain by making an impression of a statement looking like a nursery rhyme and still wasn’t able to control the various emotions and desires of his more creative tenants. These characters included the Major, a retired British officer who writes mysteries with erotic themes that he secretly tested on his fellow tenants, and his wife, a practitioner on many occult arts. Perhaps most energetic were two young Princeton grads who sold space for LIFE magazine who assiduously sought to date and bed nubile young things at least every weekend.

Their antics resulted in a fishing expedition that culminated in a memorable roof top fight of feral cats; and through their real or imagined sex lives, triggered a LIFE goes to a Party feature story in their building. These and similar stories are offset by the tragic story of the beautiful Anastasia and the emotionally moving stories of the Uncle and the Niece and Waldo the Wondrous. Read on. These and other long-ago tenants of 6 and 8 West 9th Street are anxious to share their equally interesting stories.
