Darshan Doshi Trio – Live on Tour 2021

Mumbai-bred drummer Darshan Doshi and his band Darshan Doshi Trio, comprising guitarist Rhythm Shaw and bassist Avishek Dey, recently released a scintillating seven-track album entitled Live on Tour 2021. The record includes performances by the group from their five-city tour this past October as we hear Doshi’s rhythmic and pulsating playing, while Dey delivers scrumptious grooves and Shaw is at his dexterous best. The record is mainly fuelled by instrumental jazz fusion music with the exception of “Run” and “Bandish Blues” which call upon vocalists Vasundhara Vee and Varijashree Venugopal, respectively. Treat your ears to some high-quality musicianship with this record.

Ahmer X Enkore – “HOSHIYAAR”

Srinagar-based hip-hop artist Ahmer and Mumbai rapper Enkore have joined forces for an in-your-face hard-hitting track called “HOSHIYAAR,” out via Azadi Records. Produced by Prxphecy, the song sees both rappers spit fiery bars about their roots while chaotic soundscapes bring the track to life.

Brent Tauro – “Premonitions” feat. Craig Chester, Micah and Simetri

On his latest hip-hop-leaning single “Premonitions,” Mumbai-based keyboardist/producer Brent Tauro enlists his former Strike Three bandmate, rapper/singer Craig Chester, as well as hip-hop artist/producer Micah and singer-songwriter duo Simetri. Tauro lays out a buoyant bass groove and indulgent production for the likes of Chester and Micah to run their rhymes while Simetri’s effervescent harmonies and catchy hook will have you humming the song in no time.

LAVI, Foenix – “Spiral”

Hyderabad-based singer-songwriter LAVI teamed up with Mumbai-based artist Foenix on her moody debut single “Spiral.” The track includes a shimmering vocal performance by LAVI as she weaves elegant melodies while crisp guitar parts, an airy beat and electronic elements fill the sound. In a statement, LAVI said, “The song is based on a character who is driven sick from the daily drudgery that has become their life; a concept that is close to both of us as artists.”
