Galatasaray's new goalkeeper Inaki Pena arrives in Istanbul

Inaki Pena, whom Galatasaray is preparing to join on loan from Barcelona B team, came to Istanbul late at night.

Who is Inaki Pena?

Inaki Pena, born on March 2, 1999, plays as a goalkeeper in Spain’s Barcelona B team. In 2012, at the age of 13, he joined FC Barcelona’s La Masia team from Villarreal CF. The team that won the 2017–18 UEFA Youth League took part in the first half of the final against Chelsea. On April 16, 2018, he renewed his contract with Barça for three seasons with an option for two seasons. He was then promoted to reserve in Segunda División B ahead of the 2018–19 season. He started his professional debut on October 6, 2018 with a 1-1 draw against CD Atlético Baleares at home. Inaki Pena was called up to the main squad as Jasper Cillessen’s backup for the first leg of the 32 draw round with Cultural Leonesa at the Copa del Rey. He was once again on the bench in the main squad to make up for Neto’s absence due to injury in the 2019-20 season. On October 6, 2020, Barcelona used the option to extend the young player’s contract for two more years.
