A Gatineau police officer on photo radar duty Wednesday arrested a man who had been wandering along a busy city street while carrying a knife.

A number of callers alerted police to the man wandering along the middle of Alexandre-Taché Boulevard near St-François Street at about 9 a.m.

Patrol cars were sent to the scene. An officer in a photo radar van took the man, in his 20s, into custody.

The man was arrested without incident and was expected to be charged with disturbing the peace, police said in a release.

There were no reported injuries.
