Genshin Impact is already $ 2 billion

Genshin Impact is one of the most popular mobile games of the year with an incredible level of profitability.

Mobile games are a huge financial chest. If Apple has already put a foot in it with Apple Arcade, other big names in new technologies such as Netflix are closely interested in this booming market. But while waiting for the arrival of the SVOD giant on the App and Play Store, the application that now reigns supreme in the mobile games category: it is Genshin Impact. MiHoYo’s free-to-play RPG has generated around $ 2 billion in revenue according to data from Sensor Tower, which is used to delivering that sort of figure with rare precision. These numbers suggest that the game was the third highest grossing mobile game on the App Store and Play Store behind Tencent’s Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile which remain the top two leaders.

A record for a Chinese mobile game

In China alone, the game generated $ 577 million, or 28.6% of its global revenue. But the numbers in the game are even more impressive if you remove the Middle Kingdom from the equation. Indeed, by not taking into account the sales made in China the game then becomes the most profitable in the world , ahead of Pokemon Go and Robox. Extraordinary figures, which show the superb first year of the game on mobiles around the world. A dynamic that does not seem to be weakening for the moment. While the game has become the best launch in the history of mobile games developed in China, Genshin has continued to impact this momentum and has exceeded one billion in revenue over the past six months. The game is also available on PC, PS4 and PS5 where again it is very popular.
