On Wednesday, Ubisoft was able to unveil Ghost Recon Frontline, a new shooter in the famous Tom Clancy series. The game will be free to play, and will arrive “soon” on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna.

Ghost Recon Frontline exclusively a multiplayer product, with the main focus on the mode called Expedition. Here, over a hundred players fight against each other, in teams of three, in a new twist on the battle royale formula.

As the developer explains, there is no “Last team standing” or shrinking circle. Instead, teams work to complete a series of missions on the Drakemoor map, before they can finally summon a helicopter to take them to safety. When a team calls their helicopter, however, all the other players are informed of what is happening, and this is where the game’s tactical aspect comes in.

Players get to choose between different classes, each with different equipment. Interestingly enough, one can also change class at any time in the match, so that different situations can be dealt with in different ways and as needed.

Exactly how it works gives PC gamers the chance to test as early as next week. Ubisoft has announced a closed beta test from October 14 and Norway is among the countries selected to participate. Players can register their interest on Ubisoft’s website
