The Google Pixel 7a is scheduled to launch in India on May 11 after it is unveiled globally at the Google I/O event on May 10. Various leaks have already surfaced ahead of its debut.
While we have a pretty good idea about what to expect, a new video has popped up, showcasing the internals of the Pixel 7a. The appearance of the teardown video is highly unusual, since such videos usually surface after the device is launched.
Teardown Video Offers a Peek Inside the Pixel 7a
The Pixel 7a teardown video, published on YouTube channel PBKreviews, reveals the inner workings of the highly-anticipated smartphone. In the video, the YouTuber removes the plastic rear panel to reveal the wireless charging coil and NFC antenna.
There’s also the dual-camera setup, and underneath all these components is a 4,385mAh battery pack with pull tabs. At the side, there’s a large graphite surface for heat dissipation. The phone’s earpiece is located at the top of the smartphone, alongside the speaker.
The Pixel 7a has a copper film at the front, which will also aid in heat dissipation. At the bottom half is the fingerprint sensor, while the upper half has a cutout for the proximity sensor. In the middle of the frame is a graphite film for thermal management.
The teardown video reveals that the Pixel 7a has a pretty good repairability score of 7.5/10. This means that various components of the smartphone, such as the battery and display, can be easily accessed and repaired. The YouTuber does warn that replacing some miscellaneous parts could be troublesome.
Overall, the teardown video paints the Google Pixel 7a in a good light. In terms of repairability, the smartphone outperforms the Pixel 7, which managed a score of 6/10, as well as the Pixel 7 Pro, which scored 5.5/10.
