A recent mobile game endorsement might have landed Xinjiang-born actress Gulnazar Bextiyar (古力娜扎) in hot water, as its contents are said to be gambling-related!
Manager Takes the Rep for Gulnazar?
With the topic “Why did Gulnazar take on this kind of advertisement” trending on hot searches, netizens have reacted diversely, with some commenting that her manager must have been drawn to the lucrative deal, while others chided the actress for “lacking capabilities” and having no productions to show, which is why she needed the endorsement deal to make up for her income.
As negative commentary snowballed, the 31-year-old’s manager gave in to the pressure and posted an apology which tagged the artiste and her fans on his personal Weibo.
Clarifying that the mobile game is licensed and properly supervised, it added that the app contains no illegal functions and that verification of identity is required for login, with those below 18 years of age forbidden from usage. Acknowledging the slow response and inapt handling of the case, the post said that it would like to apologize for the disparity between career plans for Gulnazar and fan expectations, which led to the artiste’s reputational losses.
