The peak of Francisco Serra’s career occurred together with his band Pancho y la Sonora Colorada in 1995 with the hit “Cachete, Pechito y Ombligo”. His first steps in the music industry were located in the early 80’s, in Santa Fe.
It was part of a New Wave trio that broke it up. His biggest inspiration was The Police. Their name was Desliz and their guitarist was Francisco Serra, a boy who had been trained in folklore “my old man sent me to learn because he liked me to play while the family ate” , he counted. However, one day he discovered the Beatles and his life was twisted: his would be rock n ‘roll.
This boy who entertained the family at lunches, over time he would record with JAF and León Gieco and lead Memphis La Blusera, Silvina Garré and none other than Luis Alberto Spinetta. And he would also form a group with which he would sell more than 300 thousand records and whose biggest hit would even be abused on radio, on television. The album was not that rocker, nor was he known at that point as Francisco Serra. The story of this song according to the members of Pancho y la Sonora Colorada , is that it was a filler theme to complete an album. The surprise was that it ended up selling more than 300 thousand copies thanks to the impact of “Cachete, pechito y navel”. So much so, that with the pandemic, Francisco Serra recorded a version of the song in a tango key and renamed “Codito con codito”, alluding to the greeting popularized during Covid-19.
The enormous success of the song in 1995 led to Pancho being invited to the most successful programs on Argentine television. Thus he increased his popularity by attending. Having lunch with Mirtha Legrand, Susana Giménez’s living room, Movete with Carmen Barbieri, summer in Mar del Plata with Juan Alberto Mateyko, and on the VideoMatch stage hosted by Marcelo Tinelli, where he was also a victim of the hidden camera that Valeria was plotting. Lynch. They became a Gold Record in Chile, Peru and Colombia.
In 1996 he released another song with a little less popularity than his previous hit called La colita . G recorded his records under the Columbia and Sony labels where they also included other songs such as El venao, El chicle, La gallinita, Tu Que Te Creías, El Caballito, Santander de Batunga (Tropi Dance Version) , Agarra la onda Lupe, among others.
Already in 2013 he integrated the work Los Magníficos, together to Marixa Balli, Alcides and Pocho La Pantera, where each one gave themselves their space to perform their famous hits.
Over time, Serra moved away from the means to reside in Córdoba for twenty years. The leader of Pancho y la Sonora Colorada was 61 years old when he died on January 4, 2022 and suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
