Hong Kong environmental authorities have launched an investigation after the water at the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter turned a milky white, possibly due to a suspected illegal discharge of pollutants.
But no detectable odour was reported at the small marina-like area in Victoria Harbour.
A spokeswoman for the Environmental Protection Department said on Wednesday that personnel were dispatched to conduct an on-site investigation after receiving reports.
The colour of the water turned baby blue at the shelter on Wednesday, although the rest of Victoria Harbour remained unchanged.
Some internet users likened the scene, with the blue sky as a backdrop, to a small bay in the Maldives. Others said it resembled an indoor swimming pool.
