Huawei MateBook 16 comes to Europe: productivity laptop with 16-inch LCD screen, Ryzen 5000H CPU

Huawei unveiled a new laptop today, one with a 16-inch screen and productivity features. This is Huawei’s first 16-inch screen with a 3: 2 aspect ratio, which offers more vertical workspace than the classic 16: 9 screens. Terminal was introduced in May in China and is now arriving in Europe.

MateBook 16 integrates an IPS LCD panel with resolution of 2520 x 1680 pixels and offers a contrast ratio of 1500: 1. The brightness reaches 300 nits, we also have HDR support and 100% sRGB coverage. The panel was calibrated at the factory to achieve a deltaE=1. It is a touch screen with fingerprint protection and reinforced glass.

Inside the buyer can choose between a AMD Ryzen 5 5600H and a Ryzen 5800H , the first with 6 cores and the second with 8 cores (12 and 16 threads). There is also a Vega GPU, and the TDP is 35W, but if you activate the Performance mode you reach 54W. There are also two 75 mm Shark Fin fans available for cooling, as well as two heatpipes and a copper heat sink. We also find among the specifications 16 GB of dual channel DDR4 RAM, but also a 512 GB NVMe SSD. The MateBook 16 has an 84 Wh battery, which should provide 12.5 hours of local video playback.

In the product box there is a 135W charger , which it only needs 15 minutes of power to provide 3.5 hours of Office work. Charging is via USB-C. On the connectivity side we find two side USB-C ports, 3.5 mm audio jack (which is also a microphone port), but also two USB0A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1. For security we have a fingerprint reader integrated in the Power button, and for entertainment we tick two 2W stereo speakers. All integrated in a 17.8 mm thick body and weighing 1.99 kilograms.

The new MateBook uses a generous touchpad with durable glass on top. The product will arrive with a starting price of 1100 euros in the Ryzen 5 version, and the one with Ryzen 7 costs 1200 euros.
