With many other things on her plate, don’t expect to see Megan Anderson step inside the cage soon.
The former UFC featherweight title challenger is currently not interested in competing, although she is not quite ready to call it retirement. On Wednesday evening, Anderson (11-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) issued a statement on social media, providing an update on her career outlook.
“For all those that are asking and continue to ask me daily, I have no plans to fight right now,” Anderson wrote on Instagram. ” I’m not saying that I will never fight again, but at this point in my life, I’m loving everything else I’m doing.
“From gaming and streaming, working as an analyst for ESPN and Invicta, and currently filming my first major feature film, I couldn’t be happier and fighting really isn’t on my mind.”
Anderson, a former Invicta featherweight champion, competed under the UFC banner for the first time in 2018 against former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm at UFC 225. Although she would lose her debut, Anderson went on to record three victories during her UFC run, all of which were first-round finishes.
Anderson fought out her UFC contract when she was tapped by Amanda Nunes in her bid for the women’s featherweight title at UFC 259. The former Glory MMA & Fitness product has since turned her focus to video game streaming on Twitch, interviews, and more.
“I’m currently not affiliated with any gym, I’m not signed to any promotion right now and haven’t been pursuing a new fight contract,” Anderson continued. “I appreciate the love and interest from everyone hoping to see me in the cage again, but hopefully this answers your questions for now!”
