Daniel Igali is optimistic Bayelsa United will maintain their topflight status at the end of the season.
Igali gave the assurance recently at his office when the board of Bayelsa United paid him a courtesy visit in honour of his reappointment as Commissioner of Sports Development in the State by Governor Douye Diri.
The world and Olympic champion expressed joy for the opportunity given him by Governor Diri to serve while applauding the Bayelsa United board members for the show of solidarity.
“It’s a thing of joy to be welcomed back to the sports family. On behalf of myself, family and the ministry, I want to extend my deep appreciation to Bayelsa United board for this official welcome ceremony,” he said.
“As you know the governor has special attention to the activities of our state-owned clubs and he always ask about the happenings and current position of our clubs.
“Of course this morning I was on a radio station that called me from Lagos and were expressing fears of Bayelsa United survival and I assured them that Bayelsa United does not have any choice but to stay up.”
