Ill-fated Jaden Rashada Florida NIL contract details revealed

The contract details of Jaden Rashada’s failed NIL deal with Florida have finally been revealed.

Although Jaden Rashada made a wise decision to commit to his father’s alma mater Arizona State to play for Kenny Dillingham, the details of his ill-fated Florida NIL deal have been uncovered.

Rashada is a four-star quarterback prospect from Pittsburg, California in the 2023 class. He initially committed to Miami over the summer before flipping to Florida in November. Rashada signed his national letter of intent with the Gators before backing out of it a month later in late January. He was the only four-star to sign his new NLI with the Sun Devils program this winter.

Andy Staples of The Athletic shared the finer details of Rashada’s Florida NIL deal gone wrong.

We charted QB Jaden Rashada’s recruitment from his discovery to his Miami commitment to a since-terminated $13.85 million deal to go to Florida.

It’s a tour through the untamed world of recruiting in the NIL era.

These details include:

  • A $500,000 up-front payment.
  • Monthly NIL payments that escalate each academic term should he satisfy the agreement.
    • $250,000 monthly as a freshman, $291,666.66 as a sophomore, $375,000 as a junior and $195,833.33 as a senior.
  • To receive those monthly installments, Rashada would have needed to check these boxes.
    1. Be a Gainesville, Florida resident.
    2. Share at least one branded post on Instagram and Twitter monthly.
    3. Take part in at least eight fan engagement events throughout the year.
    4. Autograph at least 15 pieces of memorabilia per year.

This all would have amounted to Rashada making upwards of $13.85 million to play for Florida.

This would have been a cross-country move for Rashada. Playing in the SEC at a traditional power like Florida certainly has its upsides. However, the Gators have been consistently inconsistent in the wake of Urban Meyer retiring the first time. This will be year two under Billy Napier. While the Nick Saban disciple had great success previously at Louisiana, the Ragin’ Cajuns aren’t in the SEC.

A big reason why the Gators have pulled back in the last decade-plus has been struggles at the quarterback position. Kyle Trask shined in the COVID year and Anthony Richardson was an undeniable raw talent, but he too has turned pro. Getting a blue-chipper to come across the country to play ball was always going to be pricey, but that is $13.85 million for an 18-year-old.

Assuming Rashada has great success in Tempe under Dillingham’s guidance, he will always be tied to Florida, and Miami to some extent. All three programs are not where they want to be right now. However, there is reason to believe the amount of talent in Arizona and Florida can help make these programs relevant with the right coach at the helm. Of course, Rashada is an ASU legacy…

Simply put, this cannot be another down year for Napier leading the Florida football program.
