Images of the Week: Hoyeon Jung Is Our February Cover Star

Happy New Year! We kickstarted 2022 by announcing our newest cover star: Squid Games breakout star and model Hoyeon Jung. The 27-year-old appeared on the cover in a Louis Vuitton cape and dress. The other major fashion news of the week was the announcement of a collaboration between Kanye West, Demna, and Gap. West told Vogue, “It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible product available to everyone at all times.”

Oscar-winning and boundary-breaking actor Sidney Poitier died Thursday evening at the age of 94. The first Black movie star, he starred in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Lilies of the Field, and The Defiant Ones.

All eyes were on Novak Djokovic as he landed, controversially, in Australia for the Australian Open (which he’s won nine times). The competition required that all the athletes be vaccinated against COVID-19, but Djokovic was granted an exemption. However, the Australian authorities denied his visa and refused to grant him entry. In other words, he will not be playing in Melbourne.

Finally, the Golden Globes will take place in modest fashion this weekend, without a red carpet and following a year of critiques of the event’s governing body, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Many stars are boycotting the affair and it will not be televised. That said, we can still appreciate the fashions of years past, and look forward to red carpets to come in awards season.
