In Norway, electric cars already account for more than three quarters of the new car market. See Tesla

A record number of electric cars were sold in Norway in September. Their share of all 17,992 cars sold rose to 77.5 from 61.5 percent last year. The greatest interest was in models from the manufacturer Tesla. Referring to the Norwegian Road Transport Association OFV, Reuters reported.

Norway is the first country in the world to stop selling petrol and diesel cars. It intends to stop offering them to customers from 2025. Electric cars in this Nordic country, which is a major oil producer, are exempt from the tax that buyers who rely on fossil fuels have to pay. The best-selling model last month was the Model Y from the American carmaker Tesla. This sport utility vehicle gained 19.8 percent market share. It was followed by Model 3 of the same manufacturer with a share of 12.3 percent. The Škoda Enyaq model came in third with a market share of 4.4 percent. Last year, Norway became the first country in the world to sell more electric cars than petrol, diesel or hybrid cars. The share of electric cars sold was 54.3 percent. Ten years earlier, it was only one percent.
