«In the end, Belenenses will have 32 games and not 34»

The Belenenses coach wants to reverse the recent league games against Arouca, on matchday 17.

«We have had always a logic of facing each game to go looking to win them and tomorrow that will be our thinking, regardless of what is behind. We want the future to be better and we have been working to reverse this trend», stated Filipe Cândido, in a preview press videoconference.

Although he does not consider Arouca the «ideal opponent» to look for the much-desired triumph, after five consecutive defeats, without any goal scored, which leave Belenenses in the red-lantern of the table, the coach maintains a positive spirit.

«The Arouca has the quality to be with a few more points. We expect an extremely difficult game. The opponent will be able to speculate a little with the game, knowing that we are also looking to win and they can exploit our ambition. We have to be mindful of that. The players know the difficulty of the game, but they also know what they have to do to beat this opponent», expressed the 42-year-old Lisbon coach.

In this way, Filipe Cândido reinforced that optimism must continue, since there is belief in the daily work carried out, even understanding that the blues will have fewer matches than the other teams in the championship: «We know that Belenenses will have 32 games, not 34. Two of those [Benfica e Estoril Praia] didn’t count for us.»

«We have to stay strong, because we know that, often, the important thing is a victory to break some cycles. When that happens, things will be better. Nobody ever said it would be easy. The only way is to work and believe a lot”, he stressed.

Regarding the January market, Filipe Cândido admitted the possibility of reinforcements, but only with “the certainty that he will add », therefore, «otherwise, it is trying to boost» the athletes who are already at your disposal in the Lisbon squad.
