The Great British Bake Off is officially back on screen with a whole new crop of bakers keen to impress the judges with their skills in the tent.

One of this year’s contestants is Crystelle, who has already caught the attention of viewers with her incredible creations.

Last week she stunned viewers with the ultimate showstopper of an ornate bouquet of flowers cake that appeared to defy gravity.

She has also crafted a dressing table and mirror set out of biscuits in another stunning bake that wowed the judges.

Crystelle is 26 years old and works as a Client Relationships Manager in London where she also lives.

She grew up in a house full of cooking and says how she was nominated by her mum to be ‘chief taster’ of the family’s dishes which prompted a life long love of food.

Crystelle was born in Northwest London, however, her parents were born in Kenya and are Portuguese-Goan and she also says that she loves to tour the world.

It’s reported that the baker wants to incorporate her heritage to influence her recipes and she says she loves to use spices and flavours that she has picked up during her travels.

Her Instagram feed is packed full of recipes, tips and baking tricks for her 4.2k followers to enjoy.

Here she doesn’t just post sweet treats, Crystelle also curates and creates savoury recipes for the likes of the perfect tacos and sweetcorn and courgette fritters.

She credited lockdown as being the perfect opportunity to try and test her recipes to have them perfected ahead of her round in the tent.

When she isn’t baking, Crystelle is an avid singer and loves to practice on her own and also as part of a choir local to where she lives in the city.

Crystelle will now battle it out to see if she can rise above the competition and be crowned this year’s winner.
