Interrogations of the crew and a diving inspection of the shipwreck are expected today

The operation to rescue the ship “Vera Su” stranded near Kamen Bryag continues. Part of the ship’s fuel was drained yesterday, but the crew continues to refuse to evacuate.

Divers told BNT that the ship could not sink more than it is at the current level, because in the shallows where it is stranded, the depth is between 6 and 8 meters.

For yesterday, the crisis headquarters planned to drain part of the ship’s fuel, which happened twice. It was also planned to interrogate part of the crew, but that part of it that was on watch at the time of the accident, as well as to conduct a diving inspection. Due to the bad weather, no interrogations were conducted and the diving inspection did not take place. This is expected to happen today.

According to divers, “Vera Su” can not sink more

The cargo remaining on the ship “Vera Su” will be towed with special pumps on three barges, which will be provided by the European Maritime Safety Agency. The barges in question are expected to arrive in the coming days. However, the water that penetrated the holds of the ship diluted part of the nitrogen fertilizer and this is what requires the use of these pumps.

At the moment the situation on the ship is calm. If evacuation is necessary, it can be done either by sea with special boats or by land. There is a special network of ropes on the bow of the ship, which is connected to a part of the sea shore, and sailors are expected to climb this network if something happens.
