But how does it stack up against last year’s flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 9 Pro? Is it worth replacing?
Design and Display
With the launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro, the company has made a big change in terms of design. While the 9 Pro also featured an evolution over the 8 series, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s rear design is slightly different and controversial. Some prefer the new large camera module, while others do not. But if you’re looking for a smartphone that stands out between the two, the 10 Pro has more of an impact on the design. Speaking of screen, both models have a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with the same resolution. Both also use LTPO technology with adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, but the last model arrives with the second generation of panel LTPO flexible. Therefore, the screen will not be a determining factor when considering an upgrade. 
Specs & Software In terms of specs, smartphones are quite similar, especially when it comes to storage. The OnePlus 10 Pro and 9 Pro are available in 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The first features the latest chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm; the second resorts to the latter Snapdragon 888 SoC. The new chip is about 20% faster and 30% more power efficient than the older model, while its GPU is much more powerful than the last generation. So if you want to have the latest and fastest device every year, upgrading seems feasible. Although, the Snapdragon 888 remains a top-notch processor that can handle the same tasks as the 8 Gen 1 without any problems. The only aspect that might put some away from the upgrade is the ColorOS 12.1 on the OnePlus 10 Pro, since that many prefer Android Stock over OxygenOS. However, gamers may prefer the improved GPU on the new chipset.
Cameras
In addition to the changes noted in the camera modules between the two phones, the number of sensors is also different. The OnePlus 9 Pro features a quad camera setup while the 10 Pro only has three sensors on the back. The main camera on both phones is exactly the same, so there may not be a big evolution in photography. The 50-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and 8-megapixel telephoto lens are also making a comeback and are quite similar on paper. However, the latest sensors on the device are also tuned by Hasselblad
with features such as Hasselblad Natural Color Optimization 2.0, XPan Mode, and more. Only a real comparison can tell what kind of upgrades the new phone offers in this department.

The OnePlus 10 Pro is powered by a larger 5,000mAh battery while the 9 Pro is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. While the latest model supports up to 80W of SuperVOOC wired fast charge and 50W of AirVOOC wireless fast charge, while the previous model supports 65W Warp Charge and 50W wireless charge called Warp Charge 50 Wireless. In other words, the OnePlus 10 Pro will charge faster and will likely last longer due to its more efficient processor.
Price
The OnePlus 10 Pro starts at 4,699 Yuan (about US$737). However, the OnePlus 9 Pro started from a higher price of 4,999 Yuan (about 766 US Dollars). So, given the choice between the two at their launch prices, the latest model obviously offers better value considering it has high end hardware and will receive updates for another year as it has just been released.
Verdict
On paper, the OnePlus 10 Pro doesn’t seem to offer enough evolution to make it worthwhile. So, if you already have the OnePlus 9 Pro, we can’t advise an exchange with just these incremental changes. But if you have another older OnePlus smartphone model like the 8 series, the 10 Pro may be the best option.
