The countdown for the 2023 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is on, following the release of the official trailer on 20 October.
The hit ITV show will be making a return to TV screens in a matter of weeks, but TV bosses have been keen to keep any details about the new series under wraps.
However, we do know that Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will be returning as hosts, and the show will be taking place in the Australian jungle for the second year in a row, after it was set in a castle in Wales for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
From the rumoured line-up to a surprise twist, here’s what we know about I’m A Celebrity 2023…
Start date
Despite the trailer having been released, an exact start date for I’m A Celebrity 2023 is yet to be confirmed by ITV.
The show usually begins at the end of November and finish in December. It is thought that the current series of Big Brother will wrap up first, before I’m A Celeb then returns to our screens.
Rumoured line-up
No contestants for this year’s I’m A Celeb have been confirmed yet.
Retired jockey Frankie Dettori, This Morning presenter Josie Gibson, former EastEnders actress Danielle Harold, and rapper Flava Flav are among those rumored to be joining the I’m A Celeb line-up.
Danielle, 31, exited EastEnders in May following character Lola’s tragic death, so there’s no doubt she’ll be eager to sign herself up for a new challenge.
Another star rumoured to heading to Australia is Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson, 31.
Sam is reportedly planning to fly Down Under for the series later this year, as his girlfriend Zara McDermott continues to set her sights on taking home the Glitterball Trophy on Strictly Come Dancing with her dance partner Graziano Di Prima.
A source told The Sun: “Sam is a great signing because he has a huge fan base and a funny, self-deprecating personality. It will be difficult if Zara is still on Strictly as she will be too busy to head out to the jungle to support him.
“While it might put a bit of pressure on their relationship, it’s a huge year for them.”
Ben Miller has also hinted that he may be joining this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! lineup.
The 57 year old Brigerton star teased a possible jungle stint as he appeared on Sunday Brunch to promote his new children’s book Once Upon A Legend.
Hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer asked the actor and comedian what other projects he has coming up, Ben replied: “I’m packing for Australia, I go to Australia tomorrow until Christmas, so it’s a lot of packing. I’m going to Canberra.”
To which Tim commented: “Simon, I didn’t know they were doing to Jungle in Canberra this year, did you?”
And while Ben remained tight-lipped about what he’s jetting off to film in Australia, he joked: “I’m looking forward to those Kangaroo bits.”
‘Luxury’ twist
The official trailer for the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! was released on 20 October, as excitement for the new series begins to grow.
The 60-second trailer hinted at what’s in store on this year’s series, with a voiceover saying the celebrities will “surrender themselves” to the “ultimate jungle experience”. The clip focuses on a ‘jungle retreat’, but it’s unknown if this is related to the tasks included in the series.
Ant and Dec can be seen working at a luxury jungle retreat, but all is not as it seems. The presenting duo can be serving up some signature I’m A Celeb dishes, including fish eyes and rotten smoothies, which regularly featuring in the show’s stomach-churning eating trials.
A bath filled with mealworms is also visible in the clip, along with the I’m A Celeb camp’s signature hammock beds. The trailer finishes with Ant and Dec standing on a white sandy beach in their jungle retreat uniforms, as they write “GET ME OUT OF HERE” in the sand.
