The number 4 in the scheme Ivan Rusev and Ilian Stoynov qualified for the quarterfinals of the Open International Badminton Championship of Bulgaria, which is held in the capital hall “Europe”. The Bulgarians defeated the qualifiers Jia Wei Tang and Min Kang Tang from Malaysia with 18:21, 21:17, 21:15 in 49 minutes. Their next opponents are Shen Yi Lau and Bo Yi Li from Malaysia.
Bulgaria will have quarterfinalists in mixed doubles, men’s singles and women’s singles. In mixed doubles, the number 2 in the scheme Ilian Stoynov and Hristomira Popovska will play tomorrow against the Danes Christian Kremer and Amelie Cecil Kudsk in a dispute for a place in the semifinals.

In the women’s singles, the European champion for girls under 17 Kaloyana Nalbantova will play against Clara Lasso from Belgium. On men’s singles number 5 Daniel Nikolov and number 6 Ivan Rusev continue to the quarterfinals. Nikolov defeated the German Brian Holchke with 21: 6, 17:21, 21:17 in 54 minutes and in the next round he will play against the Pole Mateusz Danielak. Rusev won a dramatic match over Julien Shaywiler from Switzerland with 21:19, 14:21, 21:16 in 61 minutes. Tomorrow he meets number 3 Emre Lale (Turkey) in a dispute for a place in the semifinals.
In doubles, women Tanya Ivanova and Gergana Pavlova lost in the second round to Yozge Bayrak and Byushra Yunlu of Turkey with 17:21, 16:21 in 27 minutes. The quarterfinal matches start on Saturday at 10.00 in the “Europe” hall.
