Does anyone work harder than Taylor Sheridan? The screenwriter who first rose to prominence for his excellent scripts for the movies Sicario and Hell or High Water has since become one of the industry’s prolific creators, not only creating the smash hit Yellowstone (and its numerous spinoffs) in recent years, but a number of other shows as well.

Now that Tulsa King—Sheridan’s foray into the world of organized crime led by Sylvester Stallonehas wrapped up its debut season, the writer/director/producer is bringing his action back to the world of prison towns with Season 2 of Mayor of Kingstown. The show, with shocking twists and somewhat based on a true storywas a surprise hit a year ago for Paramount+, and now the show will continue its story with cast members Jeremy RennerDianne Wiest, and Tobi Bamtefa in tow.

Season 2 of Kingstown also comes at a time of relief for fans, as star Jeremy Renner continues to recover from a scary accident involving a snowplow that left him in critical condition not long after the start of 2023. The Marvel star and two-time Academy Award nominee (for The Hurt Locker and The Town) assured fans in an Instagram post that he appreciated their concern and would be better: “Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏. Im too messed up now to type,” he wrote in a January 3 post. “But I send love to you all.”

We still don’t have a ton of details on the aftermath of Renner’s rough accident, but his Kingstown co-star Hugh Dillon (who also played the sheriff in Yellowstone) told USA Today that the actor sent him a “profane” video from his hospital bed, while Kym Renner (Jeremy’s sister) told People that the family was “thrilled with his progress.”

While we continue to await news on the star’s recovery, it’s good to know that fans of his Paramount+ star turn can check out a brand new Season 2.
