Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s ‘Mr. Corman’ Cancelled After 1 Season on Apple TV Plus

Apple TV+ has not renewed Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s teacher dramedy “Mr. Corman” for a second season, an individual with knowledge of the situation confirmed to TheWrap.

The series – which Gordon-Levitt created, directed, wrote, and produced in partnership with A24 – stars the actor as Josh Corman, an elementary school teacher in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. Arturo Castro (“Broad City,” “Alternatino with Arturo Castro”) plays Corman’s roommate, Victor Morales.

Debra Winger and Shannon Woodward co-star as his mother and sister, along with “Ted Lasso”‘s Juno Temple and musician Logic. Lucy Lawless, Hugo Weaving, Amanda Crew, Emily Tremaine, Jamie Chung and Veronica Falcon fill out the ranks of the supporting cast.

Despite earning mostly positive reviews upon its Aug. 6 premiere (critics gave it a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience score came in slightly lower at 65%), the show failed to receive the green light for Season 2.

Gordon-Levitt still has projects set up at the streamer. The multihyphenate’s company HitRecord produced the animated series “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory,” which debuted on Apple TV+ last week. Gordon-Levitt also voices the role of Luxcraft in all 10 episodes of the show’s first season.

The 10-episode “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” follows Wolfboy (voiced by Kassian Akhtar), an imaginative oddball who discovers a strange realm at the centre of the earth where fantastical beings called ‘Sprytes’ create things for the natural world on the surface.

The show is inspired by the work of visual artist Toff ‘Wirrow’ Mazery, co-created by Emmy Award winner Edward Jesse, developed by Emmy winner Michael Ryan (“All Hail King Julien,” “Kung Fu Panda”) and executive produced by Gordon-Levitt, HitRecord and FOX Entertainment’s Bento Box Entertainment.
