Dominated the day before by Marco Odermatt on this same track in Wengen when he remained on three victories in super-G, Alexander Aamodt Kilde, second overall behind the Swiss, took his revenge on Friday during the first descent of the weekend in the Swiss resort, beating his rival by 19 hundredths. The Norwegian thus slightly cuts his lag in the classification on the untouchable leader and takes the lead in the classification of the specialty.

The reaction of Kilde, surprised the day before in his garden by the extra-terrestrial Odermatt, does not is not expected. The Beijing Games (February 4 to 20) have not even started yet that the duel is in full swing like probably never since the start of the season. Announced before the hour as two of the heroes of these 2022 Olympics who should see them return from China with their suitcases full of medals, Marco Odermatt and Alexander Aamodt Kilde surrender blow for blow. And if the first, irresistible since the start of winter, seems to have flown irretrievably to the top of the general classification in the race for the big crystal globe, the second has not yet said its last word. At the slightest shooting window that presents itself in front of him, the Norwegian does not hesitate to rush into the breach to titillate in turn this Odermatt which sometimes gives the impression of evolving in another dimension than its competitors. Thursday, during the super-G of Wengen on the favorite ground of Kilde, the Swiss was not shy to cut his rival in his tracks. Friday, it was the turn of the Norwegian to take his revenge and respond tit for tat to his best enemy, 11th victory in career for the winner at stake.

The French still lagging…

The day before on the super-G for 23 hundredths, the dolphin of Odermatt in the general but the new leader of the downhill classification this time took the upper hand by 19 hundredths during the first descent of the weekend, on a course a little shorter than that which awaits the skiers on Saturday (on Friday, the competitors set off from the usual start of the handset). Thanks to a phenomenal action, “SuperMarco”, although less powerful than Kilde, was very close to signing his second victory in a row on his rival number 1, while the latter seemed however not to be able to be worried given his magnificent performance on the Lauberhorn. Beat Feuz , relegated to 30 hundredths in third place, despite a superb copy there too for the triple winner in Wengen, could not do anything during this first descent. Like the day before, the French finish far from the best. The best ranked of our representatives Johan Clarey must therefore settle for 14th place only when Nils Allègre ranks 23rd.
