LONDON. The management of the English football club FC Watford has agreed with the Italian coach Claudio Ranieri.
The 69-year-old coach signed a two-year contract on Monday to replace Xisco Muñoz
The Spaniard lasted only seven laps on the bench and became the first dismissed coach this season in the Premier League . Watford also lost to Slovak midfielder Juraj Kuck in the line-up on Saturday at Leeds 0: 1.
They dropped to 14th in the table after recording two victories, one draw and four losses in seven matches.
Forty-one-year-old Muñoz has been leading Watford since December 2020. In the previous season, he won the club’s return to the top competition. Ranieri worked for two years in Sampdoria Genoa, where he finished in the summer. He achieved sensational success in England in 2016, when he led to the title of Leicester City.
He brought assistants Paolo Benetti and Carlo Cornacchi to the implementation team, as well as fitness trainer Carlo Spignoli. It will premiere at home against Liverpool FC on Saturday, October 16.
