Tinubu made this promise in a nationwide broadcast to Nigerians on this morning following the protest that has rocked the nation since Thursday.

A social media handle, Lagospedia on Twitter (now deactivated) had called on Igbo people to vacate Lagos and Southwest of Nigeria. The call led to outrage and condemnation with many calling for the arrest of the promoters.

Many Nigerians and politicians called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the security agencies to fish out the culprits and bring them to book for their attempt at thwarting the peace of the nation at this critical moment.

Reacting, in his nationwide broadcast, the president said no one should take advantage of the protests by threatening any section of the country as there is no place for ethnic bigotry in the nation.

He said:

“To those who have taken undue advantage of this situation to threaten any section of this country, be warned: The law will catch up with you. There is no place for ethnic bigotry or such threats in the Nigeria we seek to build.

“Nigeria requires all hands on deck and needs us all – regardless of age, party, tribe, religion or other divides, to work together in reshaping our destiny as a nation”.
