The city of Palmas sanctioned Law No. 2,664, which institutes the Municipal Day of Advocacy in the Capital. The project, which is authored by councilor Rubens Uchôa (Citizenship), will be celebrated annually on August 11.
According to the congressman, the “Lawyer is indispensable to the administration of Justice, he is a defender of the democratic rule of law, citizenship, morality public, justice and social peace. We are happy for the sanction of this important Law.”
Lawyer’s Day
The Lawyer’s Day is celebrated in Brazil on August 11th to remember and celebrate the date of creation of the first two Law faculties in the country, which took place in the year 1827.
Before that, those who wanted to study law needed to go to Europe, in general, to the University of Coimbra, in Portugal. Back then (and for many years afterward), the course was considered synonymous with status; only the children of wealthy families could become lawyers.
